Epoxy Floor Calculator

Enter your floor size and coating thickness. You get the coverage per gallon, total gallons and how many kits to buy.

How the epoxy floor calculator works

One gallon spread 1 mil (0.001") thick covers 1,604 sq ft. Divide by the coat thickness to get coverage: at 10 mils, a gallon covers about 160 sq ft. Water-based and solvent-based epoxies are only part solids, and the rest evaporates, so a 50% solids product covers half as much at the same dry thickness.

Garage coatings are often 8 to 12 mils per coat. Concrete that is porous or freshly ground soaks up more on the first coat, which the waste allowance helps cover.

Questions

How much epoxy for a 2 car garage?

A 24 × 24 ft floor with two 10 mil coats of 100% solids epoxy needs about 7.9 gallons with 10% extra, or 4 two-gallon kits.

How far does a gallon of epoxy go?

At 10 mils, a gallon of 100% solids epoxy covers about 160 sq ft. A 50% solids product covers about 80 sq ft at the same dry thickness.

How much epoxy for a 1 car garage?

A 20 × 20 ft floor needs about 2.49 gallons for one 10 mil coat, so 2 two-gallon kits.
